Based on the requirements outlined by Texas Government Code, Section 2114.006 “Customer Relations Representative; Compact with Texans,” the following standards and principles have been defined for the agency.
Customer service principles
At TxDOT, we address inquiries from the public in a manner that aligns with our agency’s Mission and values to provide a quality customer service experience.
Hours of operation
- Office hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST Monday-Friday
- El Paso District 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. MST Monday-Friday
Report a pothole or maintenance issue
If you see a pothole or other maintenance issue on a state highway, please notify us.
File a complaint and Customer Service Dashboard
A formal complaint is a signed written statement of complaints or concerns regarding the agency. A complaint must include the facts used to inform the complaint. If you would like to file a complaint, please follow our complaint process.

When writing us, please include your name and address (telephone number and email optional) and the concern or action you are requesting.
Customer service standards
- Complaints and repair reports received via the Contact us forms will be routed to the appropriate points of contact and they will respond within 10 business days.
- Telephone messages left with the Customer Service Liaison will be returned within one business day.
- Responses to complaint letters sent to the Customer Service Liaison will be sent within 10 business days of receipt.
- Open records requests are handled in accordance with the Texas Public Information Act.
