Compliance Division Director

Cheryl Durkop serves as director of the Compliance Division, where she oversees Compliance, Investigations, and External Audit & Advisory Services. These functions aim to foster stewardship by preventing and detecting fraud, waste, and abuse by providing assurance regarding the integrity and performance of programs managed by TxDOT and our business partners. 

Durkop joined TxDOT in January 2017 as a Senior Auditor in the Compliance Division, managing external audits and advisory service engagements. In 2019, Durkop became the External Audit & Advisory Services Section Director in the Compliance Division, acting as the primary liaison between the Department and external auditors of the Department as well as overseeing the planning, execution and reporting on external audits and advisory service engagements. 

Prior to joining TxDOT, Durkop served as a Senior Auditor for the Texas State Auditor’s Office, performing audits and reviews of major state programs. Durkop’s early career was centered in the field of immunotherapy in the private biotech industry.

Durkop is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science.  Durkop is a Certified Internal Auditor and a Certified Fraud Examiner.
