TxDOT to replace traditional turnarounds on US 281 in Bexar County with safer U-turns

BEXAR COUNTY – The Texas Department of Transportation will begin replacing three traditional turnarounds on US 281 near Southside High School with restricted crossing U-turns, to improve safety. Work begins Feb.10 and is expected to finish by late August.

The $1.7 million project, awarded to LCR Total Transport, will be constructed in stages to reduce disruptions.

The new U-turns will improve safety by limiting conflicts with oncoming traffic. This project is part of TxDOT’s effort to enhance safety and traffic flow across the state.
