TxDOT preps for second round of winter weather

AUSTIN — TxDOT crews in Beaumont and Houston are working to clear roads where ice formed overnight.
TxDOT officials have reported ice in some locations in the Beaumont area. Interstate 10 is closed in both directions from the Texas-Louisiana line to Baton Rouge. For current road conditions in your area, visit DriveTexas.org.
In Houston, TxDOT teams are busy clearing roads with plows and retreating with brine to help stave off ice.
TxDOT crews from El Paso, Dallas, Fort Worth, Abilene, Waco, San Angelo and other areas have been assisting in Southeast Texas for several days. They will remain in the area for as long as there is a need.

AUSTIN — TxDOT crews continue to monitor and treat roads in Southeast Texas today in the wake of Winter Storm Enzo.
In Beaumont, overnight crews began de-icing operations, and helped monitor traffic as the High Island Fire Department closed SH 124 at the Intracoastal Canal Bridge.
TxDOT crews are in full force throughout the Houston area working to plow and treat roads. The Houston District is being supported by TxDOT crews from El Paso, Dallas, Fort Worth, Abilene and San Angelo.
In Lufkin, crews continue to clear roads and retreat bridges and overpasses. Teams from the northern part of the district are being moved south to assist along US 59 in Polk County.

AUSTIN — Winter Storm Enzo is affecting a large part of the state Tuesday morning, and TxDOT crews are working to respond to winter weather conditions.
DriveTexas.org showed multiple roadways affected by winter weather Monday evening. While there were some roads affected in Amarillo, the Southern and Southeastern parts of the state saw the most snow and ice. Multiple roads were closed due to icy conditions.
TxDOT crews remained active overnight and will continue through the day Tuesday to address hot spots, treat roadways and monitor conditions. Before the storm, TxDOT crews worked to pretreat roadways for several days.
Crews from Dallas, Fort Worth, Abilene and other areas that expected less impacts were sent to the Beaumont, Houston, Yoakum, Corpus Christi and San Antonio areas to assist with snowplow operations.
In Beaumont, overnight crews began de-icing operations within the area, and helped monitor traffic as the High Island Fire Department closed SH 124 at the Intracoastal Canal Bridge.
As of 9:30 a.m. I-35 remained closed due to icy conditions in La Salle County near Laredo. TxDOT is asking traffic to detour to frontage roads.
TxDOT crews in Austin, San Antonio and other Central Texas regions are also reporting numerous slick spots.

AUSTIN — TxDOT crews continued pretreating roads across the state today ahead of another possible round of winter weather.
Crews from nearly all of TxDOT’s 25 districts will be monitoring and pretreating roads throughout the weekend. Teams will be on standby in the event TxDOT begins around-the-clock operations.

AUSTIN — Another cold snap is headed for Texas, and TxDOT crews are working days in advance of the storm to prepare.
In a flurry of activity, crews across the state started pretreating roads as early as Wednesday ahead of a possible second round of brutally cold temperatures next week.
TxDOT crews are applying a brine solution to help prevent ice from sticking on roads. The timing of pretreating operations vary depending on the area, but crews in multiple parts of the state are working to make sure everything is ready in advance of the storm.
