| Purpose | The City of Dallas and Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) are proposing to improve Harry Hines Boulevard from north of Hawes Avenue to Lucas Drive in Dallas County, Texas. |
| Description | The Harry Hines Boulevard Multimodal Improvement Program consists of three phases with Phase 1 (CSJ 0918-47-278) focusing on enhancements over a length of approximately 0.97 miles, extending from Lucas Drive to the intersection of Harry Hines Boulevard and Inwood Road. This phase aims to improve the existing six-lane roadway by adding dedicated pedestrian sidewalks on both sides and an eastbound bike lane. It will also reconstruct the clover intersection to include a new bike lane and a pedestrian bridge connecting the Southwestern Medical District. Key proposed improvements involve removing existing loop ramps, replacing the bridge over Inwood Road, and constructing new intersections with updated traffic signals, transitioning from the current cloverleaf interchange. The project will also reduce the speed limit from 40 mph to 35 mph, enhancing safety for all users. The affected areas include the Southwestern Medical District and surrounding communities. Phase 2 (CSJ 0918-47-565) is approximately 0.63 miles long with the limits from south of Harry Hines Boulevard and Inwood Road intersection to north of Paul M. Bass Way. The Phase 2 project would construct dedicated pedestrian sidewalks on both sides of Harry Hines Boulevard and a dedicated bike lane along the eastbound side. The speed limit along the project will be reduced from 40 mph to 35 mph. Phase 3 (CSJ 0918-47-484) will reconstruct the interchange of Mockingbird Lane and Harry Hines Boulevard over approximately 0.65 miles, from north of Paul M. Bass Way to north of Hawes Avenue. The project replaces the existing bridge over Mockingbird Lane, removes loop ramps, and converts the junction to a standard diamond interchange. The facility will provide three lanes in each direction and add sidewalks and a dedicated bike lane to enhance multimodal connectivity and safety. The existing right of way (ROW) of 191 feet to 193 feet on Harry Hines Boulevard and the ROW of 100 ft on Mockingbird Lane will not change. For additional project informtion, visit keepitmovingdallas.com. The proposed project would involve an action in a floodplain. |
