The presentation will be posted online on this webpage on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, and remain available for viewing and comments. To be part of the official public meeting report, all comments must be submitted or postmarked by Friday, April 11, 2025. If you do not have internet access, you may contact the Pharr District Office between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, to ask questions and access project materials during the project development process. |

| Purpose | The purpose of the public meeting is to present and gather public input on the proposed improvements to SH 4 (Boca Chica Blvd). During the public meeting, the public will have the opportunity to view project-related information and provide comments on the proposed improvements. The presentation content will be the same for in-person and virtual meetings. Comments must be received on or before Friday, April 11, 2025, to be part of the official public meeting record. |
| Description | The project proposes to widen SH 4 (from 2,700 feet east of FM 1419/Oklahoma Avenue to Joanna Street) from a 2-lane roadway to a 4-lane divided roadway with two 12-foot travel lanes, an 8-foot paved shoulder in each direction, and varying 4- to 12-foot flush-paved median separating opposing traffic. The proposed improvements also include an 8-foot bike path with 4-foot grass separation on the south side of SH 4 for approximately 3.75 miles from Quicksilver Avenue to LBJ Boulevard, including a one-mile stretch past the roadway widening section to connect to a planned bike path continuing to Boca Chica Beach. The existing culverts would also be extended to accommodate the widened roadway and turning lanes would be added at some intersections. All proposed improvements will be within the existing 100 to 200-foot-wide right-of-way. |
