FM 787 bridge
The existing bridge was built in 1976, a prestressed reinforced concrete beam span bridge with six spans varying between 51 feet and 130 feet. The existing bridge crosses the Trinity River at a significant bend where the river is currently migrating.
The existing bridge has had repairs made to it in the past and is currently closed due to floods that occurred in May 2024.
TxDOT has recently awarded the contract for emergency repairs to Ragle Construction, Inc. of North Richland Hills, TX for $11.8 million.
The repair work began Sept. 9, 2024. The contractors will begin by removing the damaged approach and spans on the west end of the bridge. The completion of the repairs will depend on various factors, including weather and the availability of materials, but is anticipated to take four to six months.
Plans for a new bridge crossing the Trinity River in a new location are currently underway.
