SH 30 at the Navasota River
TxDOT is proposing improvements to a 2.9-mile segment of SH 30 from 0.3 miles west of William D. Fitch Parkway to 2.6 miles east of William D. Fitch Parkway. The purpose of this project is to replace the existing bridges at the Navasota River with new bridges that meet current design standards and widen the roadway to increase mobility.
Background
- The existing bridges consist of two 12’ travel lanes and 2’ shoulders.
- The existing roadway approaching the bridges consists of two 12’ travel lanes and shoulders that vary in width from 2’ to 10’.
Proposed improvements
- Replace and widen the bridges over the Navasota River, Navasota River Relief No. 1, and Navasota River Relief No. 2.
- Widen SH 30 from two lanes to four lanes with a center two-way left turn lane and 10’ shoulders.
The proposed project requires additional right-of-way on the north side of the roadway.
Next steps
The project is currently in the design phase. Right-of-way is being acquired and utilities are being relocated. Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2027.
