TxDOT Bryan District, in collaboration with Brazos County and City of College Station, is developing a corridor plan to improve the SH 30 (Harvey Road) from Associates Avenue to FM 158 in Brazos County, Texas. Corridor plan objectives include enhancing safety, reducing congestion, and improving pedestrian and bicyclist mobility along the corridor.
The plan is being developed in collaboration with the member agencies of the Bryan College Station Metropolitan Planning Organization (BCS MPO), under the 2022 Brazos County Transportation Road Improvement Program, to meet current and future traffic demand attributed to development growth in the area.
Construction is currently not funded.
Existing conditions
The existing SH 30 is a two-lane roadway, one lane in each direction, with approximately 10-foot wide outside shoulders and intermittent center turn lanes. Sidewalks and bicycle accommodations are limited within the project limits.
Corridor plan improvements
The corridor plan would address future growth by adding travel lanes to increase roadway capacity and accommodate current and future traffic volumes, enhance safety and reduce crash rates by upgrading the roadway to current design standards, and provide new pedestrian and bicycle facilities. Proposed improvements include widening the existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane roadway, two lanes in each direction, and upgrading intersections to improve traffic flow. Total length of the corridor plan is approximately 2 miles. Additional right-of-way would be required to implement the corridor plan.
Public involvement
Public participation is encouraged throughout corridor plan development and this website will be updated as opportunities are available. Public input is a highly valued and important part of creating improvements to address transportation needs.
