US 77 Odem Project
The Texas Department of Transportation's Corpus Christi District is proposing to upgrade US 77 to interstate standards from I-37 to FM 1945 in San Patricio County.
Proposed improvements
The US 77 Odem Project is intended to improve local and regional mobility for current and future traffic needs, provide safety improvements, and enhance the State Highway System by upgrading the roadway to meet interstate standards as part of the future Interstate 69 East (I-69E).
Proposed improvements along the corridor include upgrading US 77 to interstate standards and adding two mainlanes in each direction with overpasses and on and off ramps that would provide connectivity to local roadways. The proposed project would be a combination of upgrading the existing highway to interstate standards and constructing new location roadway.
Preliminary design and environmental studies are underway. The purpose of these activities is to develop and evaluate roadway alignment options, take into consideration public input, and determine the potential impacts the proposed project will have on the environment and community.
Project updates and public involvement
The purpose of public involvement is to share project information, present project updates, and gather public input. TxDOT is committed to working closely with the public on this project. Public input will be considered as TxDOT moves forward in developing a plan to improve the safety and mobility of this corridor.
The next virtual public meeting with in-person option is Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025. To learn more about that meeting and previous public engagement events, click the links below:
